Watercolor Field Notebook Classes: Skill-Building in a Supportive Creative Space

First, let me say, this class is so much fun !!!

These weekly watercolor classes are thoughtfully designed for painters who have completed Watercolor Level 1, offering a welcoming environment where students can learn, explore, and continue to grow. Each session emphasizes skill development, creative confidence, and self-care, making the class as restorative as it is educational. A live botanical specimen will be featured each week with a variety of techniques to watercolor capture in your notebook.

Students will learn about the historical contributions of specific Historically Significant Field Journal Artists have made to both the art and science worlds. You will look at other watercolor notebook layouts and create the organization of your entries based on your interests. You will be provided with scientific data about the subject matter and decide how much you want to preserve with your painting.

Classes foster a safe, supportive, and encouraging atmosphere, ideal for connecting with others who value creativity as a meaningful and healthy outlet. Through guided demonstrations, hands-on practice, and individualized feedback, students will build both technical proficiency and artistic confidence.

These affordable classes offer substantial value, providing a strong foundation and advanced techniques that students can continue to build on long after the series concludes. This series of classes offer a deeper dive into skills gained in Level 1 and more project based instruction in a dynamic environment.

 How to create a Botanical Field Notebook/ Watercolor Sketchbook. Whether you are interested in documenting science, journaling or documenting things you find in nature, this course is for you.

We will divide your watercolor sketchbook into defined sections and begin filling with your creations. Bring your painting supplies from Watercolor 1, the rest will be provided first day of class. A new paint supply set will be available first week for 30.00 if needed.

 Each week we will have a botanical subject to study and paint live. You are welcome to document as much, or little as you want. No pressure, all enjoyment. We will discuss the importance of Field Artists and their historical contributions to both science and the art world.
